The class of registered student is open to those persons receiving appropriate professional education or training in a medical laboratory in India. It enables them to keep in touch with the Institute and developments in Clinical Laboratory Technology and management.

Affiliated Member-
Any technologist who has passed HS(10+2)SC. and successfully completed one year certificate of diploma in Medical Technology is eligible to be a member of the Institute. It enables them to keep in touch with the institute to prepare themselves for different examinations of the Institute. Only members are eligible to appear in the Associate membership exam.

Associate Members (Standard B. Sc MLT) –
An applicant for admission to the class of associate must satisfy the council of the Institute that he is a proper person, in both character and professional experiences, to become an Associate and must posses:
At least three years professional experiences acceptable to the council, and an approved Science degree from a University and an appropriate diploma in MT from a approved institute. OR
At least five years professional experiences acceptable to the council, with academic qualification HS(10+2) Science or equivalent and appropriate two years diploma in MT from State Medical faculty or any other institute approved by the council. OR
Passed the Associate Membership Examination of the Institute or its equivalent specialist exams. Or who have AIMS, MT(ASCP) or CLS(NCA)etc. or qualifications equivalent to it.

Fellow Members (Standard Doctoral degree) –

Fellowship (Equivalent to Doctoral degree) Admission to this class of membership is by passing one of the institute's examination for fellowship or to pass the examination by thesis or by obtaining an approved higher degree from a university in India or abroad. Applicants for admission to the class of fellow must have been registered as Associates with the Institute normally for three years.
